Cherries, Sour Montmorency- A tart cherry variety that is grown almost exclusively on small farms in the Northeast and Canada. Unlike other sour cherry varieties, the Montmorency has a true blend of sweet and sour flavors. They are perfectly delicious to eat on their own, without your face squishing into a pucker, but just tingly enough to not be considered ‘sweet.’ Think sorbet!
The Montmorency has a unique bright red-orange exterior and white flesh. They are very shiny when ripe. They rank high in polyphenols, and studies show that the Montmorency cherry is excellent for improving gut microbiome. They also are among the juiciest cherries, which is why this is the variety commonly made into sour cherry juice.
Frozen at peak ripeness to maintain flavor and health properties, keep in the freezer for optimal storage.
