Empire Apples
Description
The Empire apple was developed at Cornell University’s breeding program in the 1940’s and is a cross between the tart McIntosh and sweet Delicious apples. Empire apples were originally bred to resist pre harvest fruit drop and common apple tree diseases.
Empire’s are shiny red in color and have subtle white striations on their skin. They have crisp, juicy flesh that is a beautiful balance of sweet and tart.
The Empire apple works well as a fresh snacking apple as it does not bruise easily.
We recommend storing your apples in the fridge in a plastic bag, they should keep for a few weeks!
